This may be the first time you’ve ever heard of Buster Posey but it certainly won’t be the last. This morning I turned on SportsCenter just in time for the Top Ten and caught the bit on FSU’s junior signal caller/pitcher/former shortstop. On Monday, Buster played every position on the field (yes, all 9 of them)
… and he hit a grand slam, too, and became the Atlantic Coast Conference leader in home runs (16) and RBIs (66). Posey also leads in the league in batting average (.469).
Ah. To be young and athletic. But this kid is beyond that. He catches now but was an All-American Shortstop. As a freshman. Oh, and he pitches. Wait, back to that catcher thing.
In his first season behind the plate, Posey threw out 40.9 percent of potential base stealers and had a .994 fielding percentage. As a sophomore, he was the youngest finalist in the history of the Johnny Bench Award, which is given to the top catcher in the nation.
This kid’s got huge potential. And you heard it here first. If you didn’t watch SportsCenter, PTI, or know anything about ACC baseball. And yes, I think those links that I have cited look pretty silly like that. I’ll get the Commish to instruct me on how to properly credit.
Kid looks exciting. Anyone who is just a pure athlete like that should be on the radar.
